Columbus Landmarks Foundation and Friends of Green Lawn Cemetery are pleased to offer seasonal walking tours featuring the art, architecture, and botanical features of this very special park. Central Ohio’s preeminent 19th century cemetery reflects the roots of the Cemetery Beautiful Movement in New England. Green Lawn encompasses more than 200 years of Columbus history, stories, and architectural preferences, and is home to champion trees, diverse old growth species, and wildlife.
Enjoy the beauty of this 1848 Victorian cemetery in its most splendid autumn colors. Tour will be led by naturalist, Randy Rogers, and historian, Doreen Uhas Sauer, who point out points of architectural interest, highlight stories of the famous and the often forgotten, and include a special site, the new marker for the Rev. James Poindexter and the plans for a Civil Rights and Social Justice Trail.
Tour begins at the Huntington Chapel, located past the office in the center of the cemetery. Tickets are $10 for Friends of Green Lawn and/or Columbus Landmarks Foundation members and $15 for non-members.
