The Wave Story
Arlie's Hair Plus Design originated in a little storefront in 1965. After 3 years the small Westside Columbus salon packed up its combs and curlers and moved to Grove City. The business was established in a house near the bustling area of town. While the beauty shop was busy on the first floor of the house, the main beauty operator, Arlie Brown and his wife Irene, resided in the small apartment on the second floor of the building. With some years and much success under their belts the couple moved the small buisness a few doors south into a spacious free standing dwelling. Anyone who knew anything about this quaint suburb knew about Arlie's and its talented hairdressers. The shope was definitely where all popular and proper women wanted to frequent.
Upon entering the building with its rich beautiful blue carpet and ornate decor one knew they had arrived to e pampered. Within the walls of this happening salon many services were offered. The elevated dryer room stayed humming with its 10 or so hood dryers running most of the time. The popular wig room housed many hairpieces, falls, and cascades. The salon also featured a clothing boutique stocked with stylish dresses, negligees, and silky robes. In 1990 Arlie's built a modern decor salon on Stringtown Rd. While this storefront was scaled down in size it maintained its popularity within the community. Again in 1996 Arlie's Design Center crossed Stringtown for a much larger space. The large area allowed the salon to offer updated services including facials, manicures, pedicures and waxing. In 2002 Arlie decided to hang up his hair cutting shears and sell the buisness to his son and daughter-in-law. In 2003 Arlie's became The Wave design Center. Our core values are strong and we have great pride in our staff, the salon, and its valuable clientele.
